Chris Cornell Songs
May. 23rd, 2017 10:39 amHere are some Chris Cornell songs people ought to hear.
If Chris were a Beatle, this would be his Imagine, his All Things Must Pass, his Let It Be.
This is the best track off Euphoria Morning, which is saying something since Can't Change Me is the lead track and is brilliant.
We Got the Whip is the best Audioslave track no one ever heard. It is very Rage Against the Machine, and kind of embodies what Audioslave sounded like, and even the lyrics aren't too far removed from a Rage song, but what really makes it stand out is Chris's contribution vocally and lyrically. (I'd make a few changes to the arrangement of the song, but hey, it's basically a demo.)
I didn't like it when he did an album with Timbaland, but listening to it now, there are some pretty great tracks.
Oddly enough, apparently rock arrangements of all of the songs also exist. I don't know who did them. I suppose it's not surprising. Presumably there are demo versions as well and probably solo acoustic versions.
For some reason, I wasn't super into Higher Truth when it came out either. I don't know what I was looking for. It has a lot of acoustic guitar, mandolin and piano, which is basically what I had been wanting him to do. But, whatever the arrangement or album, what was always there was interesting songwriting.
Why this song was never a single, I have no idea. It's basically my idea of a perfect radio song that still manages to not stoop or pander.
And this should have been the next single.
One of the best tracks from Temple of the Dog, where you can really tell that Temple of the Dog is definitely both Pearl Jam and Soundgarden
Safe and Sound, the way we wish Chris Cornell was

Date: 2017-05-25 05:11 am (UTC)I have been listening to Scream now, and I really like it! Every song is good! I keep telling myself, it's electronica, not pop! It's okay to like it! I shunned it at the time because I wanted him to make a darn acoustic rock album.
I really love how each song just bleeds into the next one. I think these two are my favorites (I seriously fricking love these songs), other than one I already put up there (Never Far Away) and my unexpected love for the first track "That bitch ain't a part of me, no, that bitch ain't a part of me"

I can't get enough of dis shizz now. It's like R&B electronica. Apparently it got terrible reviews when it came out. Poor Chris. I didn't like it, but I also didn't give it a chance. Now I just want to listen to it over and over.
