it's like a circus around here

Sophie doesn't even know the half of it!

I opened my garage door this morning to find this poor little kid in here. It must have been locked in all night! It just kind of sat there. I wasn't sure what to do. I wish I'd closed the garage and maybe tried to get it out into the back yard without touching or alarming it. In the end, I left the garage door open, left it alone, and fretted. It could hop and fly a little, but it didn't really try to get away from me. It bounced around a while, freaked me out going into the street, and I think eventually may have found its own kind or figured life out in one way or another. I hope so. There are a ton of robins around, and I think it's a robin. Although it looks really big to be a young robin.

Can you spot the bunny?
Then I went to get the mail, and this bunny came running out. I think she was in the back yard when I last mowed. I think maybe I made her think the back was unsafe, and she ended up behind the rose bush in the front instead. Maybe her babies are under there. I wish she'd stayed in the back! I hope they'll be safe either way.
It is not even rural or natury here. It is very stressful worrying about all the wild beasts in an urban environment. Geese, ducks, deer, cats, dogs, rabbits, birds...!
Oh yeah, and here's me when I was 21.

You're cute.
The bird is cute.
The bitty bunny is cute.
Those look like peonies growing in your yard!

Date: 2017-05-23 05:17 am (UTC)I saw a cat out the window headed right for the peonies. I went to the door and was going to yell at it, but it ran like heck as soon as it saw me. It hurt my feelings to deliberately scare a cat, but I was worried the bunnies might be in the peony bush... I wish they were in the back yard instead! Now I feel bad for the cat. It had a sweet face. Cats can be mean to smaller creatures in the wild though.

Date: 2017-05-23 10:58 am (UTC)Is it a feral? I get a lot of them around here, and I know they say you shouldn't feed them for a number of reasons, but it makes me sad that they're eating out of my garbage can, so I do. I haven't seen Meowlzebub (I don't know why I named them that) or Pope John Paw (same) for awhile though :( There's also a long haired one that's missing an eye who comes to my house to eat. I think that one may actually belong to someone, but part of me hopes that it doesn't because it means they're not taking care of the cat. He or she looks rough.

Date: 2017-05-23 03:10 pm (UTC)I've never seen any feral cats around here, actually. There are definitely wild cats out there on the edges of town and out of town, but even those are not really feral.... I know wild and feral are kind of the same thing.
I like your cat names!!! Poor feral cats. :(
My mom leaves food out for cats every night. She is totally just feeding some neighbors' cats, I'm sure! It's big and white and fluffy and looks like it just came from Sheba's palace. She just worries about them when it gets cold. I'm sure they live in a warm house though and just want to go outside and play, same as me.
I'm always happy when the cats run away, because that means they'll stay away from dangerous people. But sometimes cats outside will come up and meow and be friendly. I worry more about them. About the only thing I want the death penalty for is cruelty to animals...

I worry about animals in the city, too. We don't get much in the way of bunnies, but we get stray dogs and cats. An unsettling number of dead cats in the gutters around here. Lots of rats around here. But even those I feel bad for. Ha.
